- The old RE said most of my follicles were empty. We measured 9 follies on Saturday and they retrieved 8 eggs. I'd say that *most* of my follicles are NOT empty.
- We've never measured 9 follicles before.
- 5 of those follies were mature
- We do have ONE to put back, that is ONE more than we've ever put back before.
- I responded really well this cycle.
- I love Dr. K and Sweeta Rita - and I do believe they will be the DRs that bring us to the end of this journey - and positively get us there.
Now, I'd be crazy if I tried to say I wasn't disappointed. Yes, I wish that all 5 of the mature follies had fertilized. Yes, I wish we had 3 or 4 really nice embies to put back. But, I am not going to focus on my disappointment. No time for negative thoughts in this body.
Here is to a nice thick, sticky lining for my one embie to stick to. Here's to shots in the ass for 6 to 8 weeks. Here is to a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.
I do have one question - what superstition have you heard about transfer day? What is this about McDonalds and pineapple and weird things to do for transfer? I want to know them all.
Here is to all my eggs (or should I say egg) in one basket! May my little embie not be lonely in my uterus. May he (or she!!) love it enough to stick around for 40 amazing weeks.
Afterall, ONE son saved the world, right?

One is all you need.. I had 3 eggs 1 fertilized and now I have a 18 month old. I will keep you and your embie in my prayers!!!
It does indeed just take ONE! I wish you the best of luck with ET and that your positive attitude stays very strong.
Sorry, I don't know anything about the things to do before or after transfer... but I am also interested to find out!
Good to hear your positivity! As for those superstitions, I can't wait to hear about them and will stay tuned!
What a wonderful attitude you have! And yes you are right ONE baby changed the world forever and one is all you need to make a baby! Thinking of you and hoping your little one will get nice and cozy and stay for 40 weeks! Thinking of you!!!
I love your attitude, Tara!!
Sorry to throw all my neurotic IVF superstitions out there. LOL. Here is my somewhat limited memory on the pineapple and McDonald's breakfast.....
Fresh pineapple - specifically the core - contains bromelain which is an enzyme that helps reduce inflammation as well as work as a blood thinner (like baby aspirin). There are no known studies that I am aware of, but have read on some messageboards that some health care naturalists claim it helps to create the receptors in the uterus that the blastocyst requires for implantation. When I was a member of Fertility Friend, the thing was to eat a whole pineapple (core included) split over the 5 days after transfer.
The McDonald's breakfast is another FF superstition. The embryologist (I think) for one woman told her the real trick to the BFP was having a McDonald's breakfast the morning of transfer. There was a big following of women who did this and got BFPs. Of course, the whole thing is ridiculous.........but I did it anyway. LOL.
Last, but not least, when I was doing IVF#1, I met Kathy. She also only had one embryo which she named Uno. He was born this past November........ I know these "I know somebody" stories can be such a pain in the ass, but it really does happen and I truly hope it happens for you, Tara!!
I heard that you're supposed to wear green for a transfer! I have NO idea why, but maybe because it's a color associated with growing and fertilization? And don't feel silly, normally I'm not superstitious but somehow, every time a really important medical procedure comes around, I seem to be wearing the same underwear and socks. Hmmm. We'll just pretend that I'm not doing it on purpose. :-)
I am visualizing your uterus as basically just glue. And as someone else said, while I know the stories about somebody's somebody are kind of vexing, but I really do know someone who is now 22 weeks pregnant after transferring one embryo.
Best wishes from a total stranger!
It's all good hun and your positive attitude is shining.

I'm glad you are feeling better about your one embie. I think one sounds like a great number. A lot better than none! I hoping this one is the one for you!
I only know of the pineapple--Brenda has explained it beautifully, as always.
It's funny that most of us who wouldn't be superstitious otherwise, now we do any and everything we hear of that we think might increase our chances.
I read on Chelle's blog [http://nutchell.blogspot.com/], about talking to your ovaries--now what am I doing (uterus)... *embarrassed lol*
You have a great attitude, and you're not alone with working with only one.
Wishing, hoping and praying for the best.
Anna
I'm really impressed by your outlook! I'm sending warm thoughts your way and hoping that your embryo is snuggling in tight.
Praying for a great tx and that your beauty of an embie snuggles in and just stays happy and healthy for the duration. You are right - we ALL are here because one egg was fertilized. It was our time to come into existence, and you have to believe this is your child's time to show up.
It is funny how IF brings out the superstition. I do not know of any but I am glad you are looking positively! I will be praying for you!
It only takes one. Good luck!
Best wishes tomorrow!
I would definitely wear lucky socks.
The pineapple, in addition to internet lore, is also promoted in the book The Infertility Cure. If you are going to eat the core, which is the part of the bromelain, I suggest making it into a smoothie.
Another blogger was told by her clinic recently to drink 2 liters of water and 1 liter of milk every day. Many other bloggers have been told to drink gatorade. I have never been told to drink anything.
Oh, and no jumping on trampolines.
I hope your transfer went well today!
In addition to the pineapple, I've also heard of drinking grape juice for five days after transfer and there's something about turkey, too, but I can't remember if it's supposed to be before or after the transfer. Either way, turkey is healthy so it couldn't hurt.
